Characterization of Bambara Nut Shell Ash (BNSA) in Concrete Production

The goal of achieving concrete with adequate durability properties in terms reduced susceptibility to alkali-silica and mechanical-strength behaviour has led several high-performance materials development. While the use Bambara nut shell ash is gaining acceptance various applications, mineralogical composition such by-product cannot be easily controlled as a manufactured pozzolan. In this research work, characterization BNSA production was investigated. A mix proportion 1:3:6 water cement ratio 0.55 were used. percentage replacement from 0-40%. Concrete cubes 150mm × OPC/BNSA cast cured at 3, 7, 28, 60 90 days respectively. At end each period hydration, three replicate samples for hydration crushed their average comprehensive strength recorded. result compressive test indicated rise difference increases 5% 40% value 20.69% 46.53% density response showed slight increment 0.85% 3.47% Poisson results obtained indicates increase 5.17% 11.14% Furthermore, young’s modulus elasticity 9.4% 14.17% 10.81% 29.412% indicate satisfactory performance replacement.
